Mission Log

MISSION OBJECTIVE:

  1. Land on Earth. Find out if “Recycle to Read” is real.
  2. Discover how Earthlings can turn toys into treasure (aka BOOKS).
  3. Report back to Galactic Command. Try not to get distracted.
    (We will definitely get distracted)

CURRENT STATUS:

Incoming transmission from Planet Earth…

MISSION REPORT: WHAT WE FOUND

Commander... this is HUGE.

We landed on Earth and discovered something shocking:

Toys are EVERYWHERE.

Under beds. In cupboards. In giant piles in places called “garages.” (Roach tried to claim one as his new bedroom. Request denied.)

Some toys are still good… just forgotten.
Others are broken… and heading for the bin.

This is where the mission got interesting…

THE BIG DISCOVERY: THE TOY RESCUE MISSION

Earth kids have started something GENIUS.

If you have old or broken toys, you can:

  • Repair them – fix them and play again (Busta success rate: 12%. Still proud.)
  • Rehome them – give them to other children or charity shops (Roach did this once. He was proud to help a good cause. He didn’t stop talking about it)
  • Recycle them – at special Tesco bins for broken hard plastic toys (Pong tried to help. Pong is no longer allowed near the bin.)

Poogle helped us find out how it all works and how the toys get recycled too
– here’s our video log...

POOGLE TOLD US THIS VERY IMPORTANT EARTH RULE

Only broken hard plastic toys go in Recycle to Read recycling bins, NOT:

  • ❌ soft toys
  • ❌ wooden toys
  • ❌ inflatables
  • ❌ toys with batteries or any electrical bits

In fact, not any other type of toy but broken hard plastic toys! Like buckets and spades and things like that.

AND NOW… THE VERY BEST PART

When you recycle your broken plastic toy...

You scan a QR code on the front of the special bin

  • Your school gets a Planet Care Point
  • Points go on something called a LEADERBOARD
  • The more points = more AWESOME BOOKS SCHOOLS CAN WIN!

Everyone has a chance to win books in a prize draw for the humans on the planet that take part and earn points for their school too.

Commander... I tested it.

I scanned it for Space School.

WE GOT A POINT. Pong did a dance to celebrate. Roach called it a break dance because Pong broke all the things around him when he did it.

FINAL DISCOVERY

  • More points = more books
  • More books = more stories
  • More stories = more adventures

THAT’S WHY IT’S CALLED… RECYCLE TO READ! (I only just worked that out).

MISSION STATUS:

Mind = blown
Pong = distracted
Roach = suspicious
Busta (me) = EXCITED

Over and out.

(P.S. Pong is still trying to scan bananas in Tesco to earn points. I don’t think he gets it!)
(P.P.S Poogle has written a song for the toy rescue, here it is!)

Meet the Gang

Busta ID card

Busta

Space monkey from Planet Banana-Likus, expert in plants, big fan of flowers, and occasionally forgets to read the instruction manual (minor detail).

Doodle
Pong ID card

Pong

A courageous, flying furball from Stinky-Tron. Loves rubbish, smells, and gets distracted by them, which often sends us off course! He’s currently sniffing the air vents. This is concerning.

Doodle Doodle
Roach ID card

Roach

Our ship engineer. A grumpy, cynical space cockroach who thinks Earth is doomed because humans, in his words, are “a bunch of forgetful planet-wreckers.”

Doodle
Poogle ID card

Poogle

The ship’s AI. She knows everything (or thinks she does) and sings a lot. Sometimes she gives helpful information, sometimes she just plays elevator music.
